Accommodation

International students must obtain housing before coming to the United States. The college does not provide on-campus accommodation. The college management provides assistance in finding housing. Students can take advantage of one of the following accommodation options:

Host family accommodation
The college can provide accommodation for a host family who lives in reasonable proximity to the institution. This is a great opportunity to get to know American culture better. All candidates for host families are interviewed by college management.

Apartment rental
One-bedroom apartment rentals range from $1,100 to $1,500 per month. Students pay for services themselves (gas, electricity and Internet).

Furnished room rental
Bay Area rentals range between $900 and $1,200 per month. The price usually covers all utilities. Students pay personal expenses (purchases, meals, laundry, bills).

San Mateo College has student government as well as more than 20 student clubs and communities. These are hobby training clubs, fraternities, charitable societies, dance and sports groups. The campus hosts a variety of recreational activities for college students and conferences at all times. At the college, students are actively involved in the following sports: football, softball, cross-country, swimming, athletics, baseball, basketball, water polo, volleyball and others.
