Cranbrook Schools are prestigious educational institutions in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, USA, near Detroit. They offer quality secondary education and provide comprehensive development of students.

The history of Cranbrook Schools dates back to 1922, when founders Ellen Booth and George Cranbrook opened a neighborhood school in the Brookside Meeting House. Today, the school has a huge, modern campus that spans more than 319 acres and includes the Science Institute, Museum of Art, Wallace Ice Arena, and Williams Pool. The school has its own sports centers, tennis courts, and playing fields.

The campus area is very beautiful and green, one of the main attractions is the beautiful Kingswood Lake. The school campus is securely guarded for the safety of the students.

Cranbrook Schools has over 1650 students: about 500 in the high school, 350 in the middle school and 800 in the elementary school.

It is a mixed school (boys and girls study together), which is attractive for its internationality and diversity. Cranbrook Schools has students from 19 different states and 26 countries.

Cranbrook Schools: education from 3 years to college enrollment

Cranbrook Schools offers education to children from a very young age. It offers several academic programs:

Kindergarten (3 to 5 years old)

Children are engaged in the Vlasic Early Childhood Center or ECC is a specialized facility designed for the learning and development of the youngest students in school. The curriculum bridges the important transition between home and school, promotes strong cognitive skills, and full social, emotional and physical development. Students meet academic standards and age-appropriate criteria.

In kindergarten, children are enrolled in full-time enrollment only. They may stay for a half day or full day.

Tuition is $27,000/year for full-day attendance.

Elementary school (1st - 5th grade)

A strong, integrated curriculum aims to provide a basic knowledge and fundamental foundation for further learning and leadership development. In addition to the compulsory subjects, children can choose to take additional classes in the following areas: art, general and instrumental music, educational drama, library, media and technology, physical education, science, and Spanish.

In elementary school, children are enrolled in full-time education only.

The cost of tuition is $32,000/year.

Middle school (6th - 8th grade)

Kermbrook High School offers separate preparation programs for boys and girls.

Compulsory subjects:

  • English,
  • Global Studies and History,
  • math,
  • science,
  • languages (French, Latin, or Spanish electives).

Students may also choose semester or elective courses:

  • human development (a comprehensive three-year health program focusing on the physical and emotional changes students experience during this period);
  • performing arts;
  • physical education;
  • visual arts.

In middle school, children are enrolled as full-time students only.

Tuition is $35100/year.

High school (grades 9 - 12)

These years are devoted to actively preparing students for college. Even life on campus is more like a small college than a regular high school.

Students tailor their program to fit their future plans.

Examples of courses in history, English, religion, and world languages:

  • Creative non-fiction;
  • Ethics: philosophy as a way of life;

In high school, children attend either full-time or boarding school with on-campus housing.

Tuition is $41800/year full-time, $56600/year boarding.

Student life, sports and creativity at Cranbrook Schools

In addition to academic training, the school creates conditions for the all-round development of students. Cranbrook Schools has 45 sports teams and more than 64 student clubs of various kinds. Every student can find an activity to suit their tastes and abilities, as well as like-minded people to help maximize their potential.

Examples of student clubs include: book club, badminton club, business club, chess club, cryptocurrency club, debate club, dance club, feminist club, girl coders, choir, Latin club, photography club, psychology club and many more.

Because Cranbrook Schools is a boarding school, classrooms do not close after school hours. Students can participate in extracurricular activities, use classrooms for homework preparation, use the library, computer center, and science labs, which are open until 10pm.
