Eton College

Eton College is a progressive private British boarding school that accepts boys only. It was founded in 1440 by order of Henry VI and is one of the oldest and most prestigious secondary schools in the UK.

The school has over 1,300 students, including international students. Admission is competitive with fairly strict requirements. You must register for admission at the age of 10.5, and then pass preliminary tests at the age of 11. Upon successful completion of the testing, applicants are admitted to the entrance qualifying exam at the age of 13. The

school was originally a place for training talented students for King's College, Cambridge University. Today, graduates of the college join the ranks of the world's leading universities, including Oxbridge and other Russell Group universities.

Eton College Study Programmes

GCSE curriculum

Students study general education subjects and eight optional subjects. Among them, two natural sciences and one foreign language are mandatory.

As optional subjects, taking into account personal preferences and academic interests, students can choose:

  • Greek or Roman civilization;
  • history, art, theology;
  • ancient or modern languages;
  • exact and natural sciences;
  • music, acting.

Sixth form curriculum

The last two years of study at the college are spent studying A-level or Pre-U preparation programmes. The school offers a list of 28 subjects, including 10 modern and classical languages, as well as:

  • natural and exact sciences;
  • ancient civilizations;
  • music, drama, art;
  • technology and design;
  • history, religious studies.

In addition to intensive classes, the programs include regular homework assignments with independent time management and internal reporting.

Students in the 12th grade choose four core subjects related to their future profession. In the 13th grade, the list is reduced to three.

  • Subsequently, the graduate takes exams in the chosen subjects. Thanks to the work of the Learning Support Centre, students receive support in choosing subjects, identifying skills that require development. The centre's specialists also help students with special educational needs.

Extracurricular Activities at Eton College

Studying at Eton College is not only about a quality education, but also about the presence in the life of a student of music, sport, implementation of social and environmental projects, spending time outdoors.

Students can choose:

  • Music lessons. College students play 53 musical instruments and take part in the school orchestra;
  • Art. The school has painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, animation, engraving, and computer graphics clubs;
  • Individual and team sports training in such areas as football, rugby, squash, yachting, fencing, cricket, tennis, hockey, rock climbing and others.

The active social life of the college includes participation of students in meetings of the Geography Society, the Environmental Protection Society, the Society for Persons with Disabilities and Social Awareness, and the Social Impact Society.

Tuition fees at Eton College

Tuition fees at Eton College are £44,094 per year. This does not include a number of additional costs, including:

  • registration fee - £400;
  • acceptance fee - £3,200 (£500 refundable upon completion of training subject to payment of other fees and charges);
  • music lessons (from £320 depending on length of lessons);
  • other additional expenses, which are billed separately and range from £500 to £1000 per term. The amount depends on the student's interests and hobbies.
