Florida International University (FIU) – is the seventh largest university in the United States and the second largest in the state of Florida, where about 46 thousand students are currently studying. Of these, about 60% are Spanish-speaking, the rest represent 52 states in the country. FIU it began its work in 1965 as an international university with a high level of academic knowledge and a tolerant attitude towards a multinational composition of students.

The university library occupies eight floors and contains more than 1 million printed publications (and 25 thousand magazines and newspapers in electronic form). 95% of faculties allow those wishing to improve their knowledge after completing the basic course to receive a doctorate degree.

Fans of an active lifestyle can choose from 17 sports programs in all major sports (American and European football, basketball, volleyball, swimming, golf, etc.).

The training center, which operates to improve the conditions of students' studies, provides an opportunity for students in their final years to build a study schedule relative to their work schedule. Miami, where the university campus is located, is a world-famous – resort that is visited by millions of tourists every year. The university has two campuses: Modesto Maidique Campus and Biscayne Bay Campus.

On the territory of the first, located in the western part of Miami, there is a student residence, an extensive library, a mangrove reserve, a sports stadium and grounds, and an art museum with a huge collection of works.

The second campus, located in the northeastern part of the city, covers an area of 200 acres. National pride is considered to be the Natural History Museum located here (founded in 1891), which has in its collection the largest collection of butterfly specimens in the world (over 6 million).

Accommodation

University students live in one of the university’s residences.

The student residence has all the conditions for comfortable recreation and study of students. Accommodation is organized by two or three people per room. The rooms are fully furnished, air-conditioned, the room has room for study, the kitchen and laundry are located on the floor. The residence provides 24-hour Internet access.

Foreign applicants are offered an intensive training course – Global First Year (from 16 years old). The program provides training from 2 to 3 semesters, aimed at preparing the student to continue his studies from the second year of university. The learning process consists of an intensive English language course, first-year academic subjects of the university are also taught and the skills necessary for further study are taught. The career center helps determine your future specialization. Admission requires a high school diploma and a good level of English (TOEFL certificate).

In addition, the university invites anyone who feels the need for additional language training to take an English course before starting their studies for 14 weeks. This course may also be prescribed to applicants with insufficient knowledge of English without fail.
