Hello! My name is Vladimir, and I provide educational consulting services for Canadian college admissions. Today, I'd like to share with you how to successfully apply to one of Toronto's most popular colleges— Seneca Polytechnic (formerly known as Seneca College).
Step 1: Choose the right application deadline
Seneca accepts students three times a year: September (fall intake), January (winter intake), and May (summer intake). It's important to note that not all programs are available for each intake. Apply as early as possible—the most popular programs fill up quickly.
Step 2: Choose a submission platform
International students can apply through the official Seneca portal or through the Ontario Colleges Application Service (OCAS). Students must create an account, complete a form with personal information and educational background, select programs (up to three per application), upload documents, and pay the application fee.
Step 3. Prepare the documents
For undergraduate programs: a high school diploma, 10th and 11th grade transcripts, and a GPA of at least 65%. For a graduate certificate: a college diploma or bachelor's degree with official transcripts. All applicants are required to submit a passport page, academic transcripts, and proof of English proficiency. If the documents are not in English, a notarized translation is required.
Step 4: Confirm your English language proficiency
Minimum requirements: IELTS — 6.0 overall, with no lower than 5.5 in each section; TOEFL iBT — from 80; PTE — from 58; Duolingo — from 115.
Step 5. Pay the registration fee
The application fee is CAD 90, payable by credit card upon application, and is non-refundable. If I submit documents as an agent, you do not pay the fee.
Step 6: Wait for a decision and confirm your location
After submitting a complete set of documents, it usually takes 4-6 weeks to receive an Offer Letter. Once you receive the offer, you must accept it online, make a deposit, and receive a Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE)—this document is required for a study visa (Study Permit).
Common mistakes to avoid
Last-minute application submissions, incorrectly formatted or untranslated transcripts, inappropriate English language scores, or choosing a program without checking its availability for the desired student.
