The Department of Robotics at the University of Michigan prepares the next generation of roboticists and robotics specialists who will multiply society’s potential for the benefit of society. The faculty was founded in 2014 as the Robotics Institute.

Michigan trains future leaders in robotics and, in addition to a leading master’s program in robotics, now offers the first undergraduate program in robotics among the top ten engineering schools.
Students design, build, analyze and use artificial intelligence interacting with the physical environment and humans. They study robotics and its place in the world, drawing on many fields of engineering including computer science, mechanical engineering, artificial intelligence, computer vision, electrical engineering, control systems, human-robot interaction and biomedical engineering.
At the University of Michigan you can complete:- a bachelor’s program in robotics;
- a master’s program in robotics;
- a graduate program and earn a Doctor of Philosophy degree in robotics.
The university also offers more than 100 courses and electives for students of other majors:- Robotic mechanisms;
- Operating systems for robots;
- Introduction to human-robot systems;
- Localization, mapping and navigation;
- Human-robot interaction and more.
In addition to on-campus learning, Michigan Robotics also publishes many online courses that can be accessed for free on sites like GitHub and YouTube. These courses usually include all video lectures, notes, textbooks, homework, projects and exams.
Studying robotics in the USA will open many promising opportunities for graduates. This profession will remain in demand in the coming decades, so such education is highly valued by employers.
