University of Portsmouth

The University of Portsmouth’s history dates back to 1869. Since then, the university has maintained its commitment to promoting and maintaining excellence in teaching and research across all five faculties. There are currently around 24,000 students at the university, including almost 4,000 international students from over 150 countries. A growing reputation for excellence means that the university is becoming a preferred destination for many students, lecturers and researchers.

At Portsmouth, whatever you choose, you’ll be taking part in a challenging academic course and studying in excellent locations. You’ll study in a modern setting using state-of-the-art facilities. Recent funding includes a £4 million library refurbishment, a £9 million Media and Performing Arts Auditorium and an £11 million Future Technologies Centre to inspire the next generation of engineers.

Portsmouth is just 90 minutes from central London by train. It’s one of the sunniest cities in the country. International College Portsmouth is located in the heart of Portsmouth, so you’re never too far from the city centre, university life or even the beautiful beaches along England’s south coast. It’s part of the college, located on the university campus in Portsmouth city centre, just a five-minute walk from the main train station (Portsmouth and Southsea) and close to the beach.

The foundation programmes offer pathways onto over 100 different programmes at the University of Portsmouth, meaning you can choose the one that’s right for you.

Over 2,400 students have progressed to the University of Portsmouth since 2009 through the foundation programmes, and over 230 former ICP students successfully graduated from the University of Portsmouth in 2018.
