Specially designed courses provide an opportunity to improve your English language proficiency, knowledge of specialized subjects and adapt to the UK education system during the year. It operates at the University of Surrey – successful completion of the courses will help you easily enter a bachelor's or master's degree at this top university.

The programs are developed in cooperation with the University of Surrey . The center provides everything you need for effective learning: the best teachers, modern classrooms, the opportunity to use the latest technology.

Training programs

1. International Foundation Year Programmes (IFY) – programmes designed specifically to prepare international applicants for undergraduate study at a university. The student chooses a specific specialisation with modules required to achieve the desired degree. The course is designed for 2 semesters.

Possible areas of study:

  • Business, Economics, Law and Social Sciences (includes core modules: Academic English + Business Studies, and optional modules: Accounting, Economics, Law, Sociology);
  • Engineering and Physical Sciences (includes core modules: Applied Mathematics, Mathematics, Academic English, and a choice of Chemistry or Physics);
  • Life Sciences (includes 4 modules: Academic English, Biology, Chemistry, Basic Mathematics and Statistics).

2. Pre-Masters programme – an intensive course to prepare for admission to postgraduate study at the University of Surrey , which is designed for 1 or 2 semesters. Possible areas of study:

  • Management, Finance, Hospitality and Tourism. The 1-semester program includes only the compulsory modules: Academic English, Career Ahead, Contemporary Business Management Issues, Research Skills for Masters, Financial and Investment Management, International Visitor Economy. The 2-semester course also includes optional modules: Entrepreneurship, Management and Leadership.
  • Engineering. The 1-semester course includes modules: Academic English, Career Ahead, Science Skills for Masters of Engineering, Mathematics for Engineering, Journal Club. The 2-semester program also includes additional modules: Laboratory Skills for Mechanical Engineering, Computer Technology.
  • Health and Medical Sciences. The 1-semester program includes modules: Academic English, Career Ahead, Health and Medical Statistics, Science Skills for MPHMS, Journal Club. The 2-semester program also includes additional modules: Biosciences, Psychology, Future Scientist.

3. English Language Preparation program – a course that will help you achieve the required level of English for studying at the International Study Centre preparatory programs.

Each program has its own English language program, which will help you achieve rapid progress. You can take the course for 1 or 2 semesters.

4. English for Pre-Masters – an intensive English language course that will help you improve your level of knowledge to the minimum required for admission to Pre-Masters courses. Depending on your level, you can take the course for 1 or 2 semesters.

Completion of the IFY Business, Economics, Law and Social Sciences course provides entry onto over 30 undergraduate degrees at the University of Surrey:

Successful completion of the Pre-Masters in Health and Medical Sciences will enable entry onto a Masters degree at the University of Surrey to study:

  • MSc Developmental Psychology in Research and Practice;
  • MSc Environmental Psychology;
  • MSc Human Nutrition;
  • MSc Social Psychology.

Successful completion of the English Language Preparation programme will allow entry to the International Foundation Year. Successful completion of the English for Pre-Masters course will allow entry to the Pre-Masters course.

Admission requirements

For IFY programs:
  1. Minimum age: 17 years.
  2. Citizenship of another country.
  3. High school diploma with high grades. IB Diploma – 26 points, AS Level – 24 UCAS points (can be in native language), A Level – 3 A Level 80 UCAS points (can be in native language).
  4. In terms of English language proficiency:
- for Business, Economics, Law and Social Sciences - IELTS for UKVI 5.5 overall (min. 5.0 in all areas);
- for Engineering and Physical Sciences - IELTS for UKVI 5.0 overall (min. 5.0 in writing);
- for Life Sciences - IELTS for UKVI 5.5 overall (min. 5.0 in all areas).

For Pre-Masters programs:
  1. Minimum age: 20 years.
  2. A recognized degree in a relevant discipline.
  3. Citizenship of another country.
  4. In terms of English language proficiency:
- for the 1st semester course: IELTS for UKVI 6.0 overall (minimum 6.0 in writing and 5.5 in other areas);
- for the 2nd semester course: IELTS for UKVI 5.5 overall (minimum 5.5 in all areas).

For the English Language Preparation programme:

For the IFY Business, Economics, Law, Social Sciences and Life Sciences programmes:
  • for the 1-semester course - IELTS for UKVI 5.0 overall (minimum 4.5 on all points);
  • for a 2-semester course - IELTS for UKVI 4.5 overall (minimum 4.0 on all points);

For the IFY Engineering and Physical Sciences program:

Accommodation
