Arts and Sports at Woodside Priory School

Priory values the arts in education as an expression of its own humanity and an aspect of understanding of all humanity. In conjunction with academic learning, the study and engagement in the arts is part of the full development of students' intellect and potential.

In the visual and performing arts, all students are encouraged to discover their creative and expressive abilities. As part of the required curriculum, everyone learns to create finished works of art, often in the context of another discipline, such as history or the humanities. Students script and perform shows, learn to speak effectively, take risks and support each other.

Students are offered an exceptionally full range of fine arts, vocal, band, and theater classes.

Priory's athletic program offers a full range of experiences with an emphasis on developing a healthy, active lifestyle as well as athletic skills. In team sports, coaches encourage sportsmanship, determination, dedication, and hard work. Many of our coaches are also teachers, and students enjoy the relationships that develop outside of the classroom. Middle and high school teams are competitive and often make the league playoffs. The top teams and athletes compete at the regional and state levels. Top high school athletes are recruited and play on college teams.

Accommodation and leisure activities

A modern, comfortable apartment complex is available for student accommodation, located within easy walking distance of the educational buildings. The dormitories accommodate two students of the same sex, while the rest of the facilities - for eating, studying, relaxing and socializing - are designed to be shared.

On weekends, the school regularly organizes trips to Houston, one of the most cosmopolitan American cities. Here, students can visit the Space Center, museums, theaters and cinemas, cafes and restaurants, shopping and entertainment centers under the careful supervision of chaperones.

Woodside Priory Boarding School

Each year, approximately 50 students in grades 9 - 12 join the rich tradition of boarding at Priory, dating back to the school's founding in 1957. In the boarding program, students from near and far feel known and loved.

The most distinguishing feature of the boarding program is the presence of residential teachers, whom students refer to as "RFs." Hired full-time solely for the purpose of mentoring our residential students, talented, passionate, and experienced faculty members provide meaningful mentorship to dorm residents beyond the classroom.

All dorm rooms are furnished with 2 single beds, 2 desks and chairs, 2 large closets, 2 small safes for valuables, and 1 bookshelf. All rooms have great views of the magnificent Priory campus.
