Contruction Management Program at George Brown College

George Brown College offers the first four-year program in this major in Ontario to be fully accredited internationally.

This bachelor's program is widely recognized in the construction industry and has been fully accredited by the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS).

Holders of this degree are eligible to earn Gold Seal Certification (GSC).

Practice

Students are required to have a minimum of 450 hours of field experience or relevant past work experience in construction management (which can be verified) to earn the degree.

Tuition for international students is $20465/year.

Entry Requirements:

Applicants must have:

  1. A high school diploma with a high grade point average;
  2. A certificate of English language proficiency;
  3. A PC or laptop with appropriate specifications;
  4. High scores in math, physics and other exact sciences.

Contruction Management Program at Durham College

This college offers a Bachelor of Science degree with honors in Construction Management. Students will acquire the knowledge and skills they will need to succeed in a career in industrial, residential or commercial construction.

Durham College students will gain a solid knowledge of the theory, principles, and practice of construction science, as well as the business acumen and leadership skills to effectively manage construction projects to successful completion. They have the additional opportunity to further their education through two 14-week field placements.

Graduates will have the basic knowledge to earn additional certifications, including Gold-Seal Certified (GSC) and Certified Construction Estimator (CEC), a project management specialist. Graduates of the program will also possess the knowledge and skills for further graduate study in this or related fields.

During the course of study, students will acquire the following skills:

  1. Analyzing architectural, engineering, and legal documents to evaluate the performance and schedule adherence of residential, industrial, commercial, and institutional construction projects.
  2. Analyzing cost estimates and comparing actual costs to plans, budgets, and control of allocated resources for construction projects.
  3. Creating a construction schedule that includes stakeholders and sequence of construction activities.
  4. Evaluating construction methods, construction equipment, safety and labor requirements.
  5. Collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, utilizing leadership, management, communication and negotiation strategies to support ethical business decisions on construction projects.
  6. Manage the selection of construction methods and materials, utilizing quality assurance mechanisms and control methods to assess the risk associated with the materials and methods used in a construction project.
  7. Supporting the life cycle of a construction project through statistical analysis, information and digital literacy skills by researching, selecting and integrating standard information technologies and systems.
  8. Evaluating deliverables using building information modeling with the project management team to procure materials, equipment, and labor for construction projects.
  9. Creating project estimates using the principles of quantity surveying, pricing, bidding and tendering that includes requirements for project materials, equipment, labor and costs.

Tuition for international students is $10,712/semester.
