Method 1. Direct admission

In order to enter an American university directly, students need to prepare long and carefully, but the result is worth it. Typically, undergraduate applications in the United States are accepted between October and January for students wishing to begin their studies next September.

Students will be required to submit a certificate of upper secondary education with grades (or a certificate of academic performance for the last 3 years). As well as English language proficiency tests, there may be several of them:

  • TOEFL or IELTS are mandatory for international students entering university in the United States.

Other tests that universities may require are

  • SAT: This test is required for all ranked universities and often for large scholarships.
  • SAT Subject: Some universities may require two or three subject tests.
  • ACT: accepted as an alternative to SAT.

  • Letters of recommendation also play a very important role for those interested in how to enroll in a US university.
  • A letter of recommendation, written by one of the teachers who knows you personally, should contain information about your positive qualities, reveal your strengths and other similar information.
  • Motivation Letter – is an important item in the process of evaluating your application because it gives the faculty evaluating your application the most meaningful impression of you as an individual. This section is key to highlight your application among other worthy candidates.
  • Admission to some US universities also requires an interview with a university representative. These interviews are generally informal and provide more opportunities for information exchange. The interviewer will try to evaluate your abilities and interests.

If you are planning enroll in top US universities, then we can help you with this.

Method 2. International Year One

For students who are interested in how to go to a US university without passing difficult tests and with lower academic performance, there are preparatory programs.

International Year One (IY1) – is a first-year program for international students that allows you to enter a US university under simplified conditions. International Year One is equivalent to the first year of undergraduate study in the United States, but has lower English language and academic performance requirements, meaning that international students can complete a full year of academic subjects while improving their English. There is no need to take SAT tests for admission to this program. After successfully completing this program, students successfully move directly to the second year of bachelor's degree at the university where they began their studies. The study regime for IY1 is intensive, as students must demonstrate academic success that will allow them to advance further to the 2nd year of their undergraduate studies.

Advantages of the International Year One preparatory program:

  • The equivalent of the first year of study in the United States (freshman year), but with lower English language requirements.
  • The minimum English requirement is only IELTS 5.0 or TOEFL 55.
  • You don't need SAT or ACT tests to enroll in a program
  • The opportunity to switch to the 2nd year after completing the program for the chosen specialty.
  • Small classes and individual approach.
